Reality stars and power couple Christina and Tarek El Moussa made headlines when they announced their split back in December 2016. After watching their hit show Flip or Flop, fans were completely shocked by the divorce. However, they were delighted to see Christina find love again with English television presenter Ant Anstead. In January 2018, Us Weekly confirmed that two years after her very public divorce, Christina started dating Ant Anstead.
Christina has two children, Taylor and Brayden, with her ex-husband Tarek. Ant was welcomed into their lives as his whirlwind romance with Christina took off. The happy couple walked down the aisle that December, and in September 2019, they had their first child together. The seemingly happy couple shared Instagram posts proclaiming their love for each other, but, sadly, they didn’t get their happy ending.
Lovey-Dovey on Social Media
“If you aren’t in the mood for sentimental/mushy post, I suggest you keep scrolling…” the reality star wrote on social media alongside a photo of her kissing Anstead in October 2018. “A year ago today @ant_anstead called me for the first time and we spoke to 29 mins two days later while he was at Sema he FaceTimed me (I was thinking who FaceTimes) anyways, I answered and we spoke to 2.5 hours… two days later we met for the first time, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. #FATE.”
She added: “@ant_anstead, you have showed me what real unconditional love is. You take me for what I am, flawed and a bit crazy, and love all of me just the way I am. You have never once made me feel bad for anything in my past. You put me in my place when I need to be put there. Hold me when I’m having a bad day. I love this life with you. I love our blended family. I can’t wait to see where the next year takes us. Whirlwind Romance
Two months after this heartwarming post, Us Weekly revealed that the lovebirds exchanged vows in a beautiful wedding ceremony in their California home. Christina’s children with Tarek, and Ants kids, Amelie and Archie, were all included in the nuptials. Christina later admitted that she was pregnant at the time.
In September 2019, the pair welcomed their first child into the world. They had a beautiful romance documented through Instagram, and the couple seemed unstoppable. However, they recently announced their divorce. Here is the timeline of Christina and Ant Anstead’s romance and ultimate split.
January 2018
Christina sparked rumors that she was dating Ant when she took to Instagram with a selfie on New Year’s Day to publicly congratulate him on the UK premiere of Wheeler Dealers’. Not long after, Us Weekly revealed that the two were dating.
The interior designer stopped by Us Weekly studios and revealed how her ex Tarek feels about her new boyfriend. “Tarek likes him,” she said. “What’s not to like? Everybody likes him. He’s a great guy.” Christina’s children feel the same: “They love him. His kids are amazing. Like I said, he’s a great dad… His kids are very good grounded, and they’re very polite. They’re great kids.”
June 2018
“This is by far the happiest I’ve been in a while. I’m really excited about the future,” Christina explained at the time. “I’m excited about the show, I’m excited about the move, I’m in a great relationship, my kids are doing well. Everything is going really good.”
Even though Us Weekly broke the news about Christina and Ant’s romance in January 2018, the blonde beauty admitted in a first-anniversary post on social media that she had been dating Ant since October 2017. She described the first time they met as “fate.” Fans of her show were ecstatic to see Christina happy and in love again!
December 2018
The couple never announced an engagement, but Christina and Ant tied the knot at their West Coast home. Days after they sealed their romance, the Christina on the Coast star was spotted wearing her stunning wedding ring during a family day out in Anaheim, California.
The newlyweds were as happy as could be as they took a Christmas Day bike ride together. How romantic! Things were certainly looking up for the happy couple. A new baby on the way only added to the excitement of their beautiful, blossoming romance.
January 2019: New Year, New Name
When 2019 rolled around, Christina changed her social media last name from El Moussa to Anstead. You know what they say: A relationship doesn’t exist unless its Instagram official. Even though it’s just a social media platform, changing her name, there confirmed the seriousness of their relationship.
In February of that year, Christina gushed about her wedding and gave details to Us Weekly about how they involved the kids on their special day: “They loved the wedding,” Christina exclaimed. “They each got up and made little speeches, and we really included them on the big day. They’re all doing really good. They’re settled, happy, and content.”
March 2019: Bun in the Oven
In March, Christina shared a sweet Instagram post revealing that she and her husband were expecting a new baby. Christina captioned a picture of her and her hubby holding an ultrasound picture: “@ant_anstead and I are so excited to announce #babyanstead coming this September.”
She continued the post: “The kids are all so excited to meet their new sibling #5 #Gonnaneedabiggercar.” A new baby is usually an exciting event in anyone’s life, but a blended family could complicate things. Luckily, that didn’t happen. The children couldn’t wait for the baby to arrive.
March 2019: Baby Bump
Just a few days after announcing her pregnancy, Christina showed off her cute little baby bump in a social media post, updating fans on how she’s doing: “Now that I can talk about [it], the first trimester was brutal!” she wrote.
She went on to say: “Maybe it’s my age (35- considered a geriatric pregnancy) lol… or maybe I just forgot how bad it was with Tay and Bray. But yikes, it really blindsided [sic] me. Nausea, exhaustion, too many food aversions, too many carbs… anyways, I’m officially back to feeling somewhat normal. Going to try and enjoy the second trimester while it’s here.”
March 2019: Birthday Presents
Christina surprised her lover with a sweet new ride in honor of his 40th birthday. She bought Ant a vintage 1958 Porsche Reutter Coupe. That sounds like a very thoughtful (and expensive) birthday present. She really wanted to make him feel loved and special on his big day.
She posted a picture of the silver car with a big red bow on top on Instagram and captioned it, “40 never looked so good.” She continued, “@ant_anstead I love you, my husband, best friend, baby daddy, you complete me. Happy 40th!! Cheers to doing the next 40 together.”
April 2019: Gender Reveal
During an interview with TMZ, Tarek accidentally revealed the gender of Anstead’s baby. “She’s remarried, she’s actually pregnant – everybody knows that,” he explained before mentioning that Christina is “having a son.” To be fair, it seems like an honest mistake.
Of course, the couple wanted to be the ones to tell the world they were having a boy, but they were so happy about having a baby that they weren’t even upset. After the accidental gender reveal, a rep for Christina told Us Weekly, “While Christina and Ant wished they could have shared the news themselves, they are very excited to welcome a baby in the fall.”
June – September 2019: Baby Delivery
In June 2019, Christina celebrated her six-month wedding anniversary with Ant and shared a post on Instagram: “Six months of marriage with you and look where life has already taken us.” She continued, “Baby on the way, amazing career opportunities, travel adventures. Manifesting those vision board goals with you is a dream. @ant_anstead love you and love this life with you.”
September 6th was a very special day for the pair; their son Hudson London Anstead was born. “Our hearts are SO full of love and joy!” she shared on Instagram. “Our healthy baby boy was born this morning – 9/6/19 – 7 lbs. 7 7 oz 19.5 inches long.”
September – December 2019: Superhuman
Three weeks after having the baby, Christina admitted that she overdid it at her daughter Taylor’s 9th birthday party and “was lifting and running around all weekend.” After the party, she had to go back to bed. Ant told ET she was a “superhuman” and had already managed to jump back “in her step.”
In December, the happy couple celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary. Christina shared a wedding video on Instagram gushing about her hubby: “1 year ago today! I still get emotional watching this! What a year it’s been. I was 2 weeks pregnant with baby Hudson here and had no idea,” she stated. “@ant_anstead, I love you, our blended family and this life with you.”
September 2020 – Surprising Split
Things really seemed to be looking up for the couple. With all their lovey-dovey posts and a new baby, it looked like Christina finally found her soul mate. That’s why it was such a shock when they announced their decision to split up on September 18, 2020.
Christina took to Instagram once again, but this time her post sounded a little different. “Ant and I have made the difficult decision to separate. We are grateful for each other, and, as always, our children will remain our priority.” She ended her caption with, “We appreciate your support and ask for privacy for us and our family as we navigate the future.”
Opening Up
Christina opened up about the breakup on Instagram once again, in a pretty lengthy post. This time, she spoke about her anxiety over fame and the effects it had on her relationships: “I never thought I would have one divorce, let alone two.”
She went on, “I never thought I would have 2 baby daddies – but sometimes life throws us curve balls. Instead of getting stuck in these ‘setbacks,’ I choose to look at these challenges as opportunities to grow. So, while some may judge me and throw around rumors about me, most of you support me. And that says a lot about this world and where we are headed.”
Heartbreak
She was obviously going through a tough time and was brave enough to share her feelings with the world. She added, “I’m messy, I’m real, and I’m working on healing. I’m surrounded by extremely powerful women who help me cope, build me up, and push me to be better.
If you’ve DM me or text me – I haven’t written back because I’m taking time to clear the ‘noise’ and focus on myself and the kids. I appreciate the support, and I hope my story inspires you to not be so hard on yourself for the decisions/choices you’ve made. We are all a work in progress.”
Moving On
Christina has had her share of struggles, but she is in the process of healing. It looks like inspiring others is really helping her through this tough time. Like anyone who gets married, she never thought she would get divorced, so having such a public split only added pressure to the heartbreak.
