This time, it was in her abdominal area and cervix, but it was a lot more aggressive than the first one, and for this reason, her mother had to get a hysterectomy. It didn’t help much because the cancerous cells had spread, and so she had to undergo chemotherapy and about eight surgeries over two years.

In April 2008, Christina Applegate received the shocking news of being diagnosed with breast cancer. She later appeared on Oprah Winfrey’s show that year, where she revealed that she had undergone a double mastectomy which involves getting rid of her two breasts.

Apart from her battle with cancer, Applegate also battles insomnia as she revealed she has been battling insomnia for 20 years. “I could sleep a couple of hours and then be up for four hours and then fall asleep again right before my alarm goes off,” she told the magazine. “Some of the nights could be rough.”

After her partnership with the Why So Awake program, she realized that her struggles with insomnia were self-inflicted. She admitted that she was finally able to figure out certain things in her life that had been supporting her insomnia, and her pre-bedtime rituals were sabotaging her ability to get a good night’s sleep.
